Personal news: I join the EUISS
I am proud, honored and happy to share the news that I joined the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) on 15 September.
At the EUISS, I am serving as the institute’s Senior Fellow responsible for the work on Asia/Global China.
The European Union Institute for Security Studies is the EU’s foreign and security policy think tank. It provides critical analysis and insights to inform the EU’s strategic choices.
Its mission is to:
Analyse: conduct rigorous research and analysis to provide policymakers with a clear and comprehensive understanding of the global security landscape.
Inform: offer policy-relevant recommendations to shape effective EU foreign, security, and defence policies.
Connect: serve as a bridge between the world of ideas (Europe’s think tanks and scholarly community) and the world of policy-making (EU and member States’ officials).
The EUISS is the only foreign policy research organisation with direct links to European Institutions and it is mandated to think specifically in EU terms. As such, the institute is uniquely positioned to contribute to shaping EU external policies.
The EUISS is an autonomous EU agency that is intellectually independent and funded by the EU Member States. It is governed by a management board composed of Member States’ representatives and chaired by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Approximately 40 individuals work at the Institute, divided between its headquarters in Paris and a liaison office in Brussels.
I am humbled and honored that I was chosen to serve as the EUISS’s new Senior Analyst for Global China.
I am also deeply thankful to my previous colleagues at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). I had an incredible time in Berlin and I hope to stay in close contact and collaborate with DGAP in the future.
Finally, I would like to thank my colleagues at DG I.D.E.A. in the European Commission. Prior to joining the EUISS I had the pleasure and honor to serve as a China Fellow in DG I.D.E.A. It was an extremely valuable experience. I am happy I remain part of the "EU family" and can continue working with the colleagues in the European Commission.
